Obituaries

Services for Christeen Elizabeth Whitaker, 83, of Grand Saline, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday July 21, 2012 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church with Homer Morgan officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.

Burial will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.

She passed away July 18, 2012 in Tyler, TX.

Mrs. Whitaker was born October 7, 1928 in Mt. Lebanon Community, TX, to William and Sallie Denton Lewis.

She attended Round Flat Pentecostal Church. Christeen grew up in the Mt. Lebanon Community and lived in the East Center Community for several years before she made Grand Saline her home. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Surviving are Son, Johnny Dale & Cindy Whitaker of Mineola, Son, Bobby Lee Whitaker of Fruitvale, Daughter, Debra Kay & Tim Smith of Fruitvale, TX, Son, Larry Dean Whitaker of Grand Saline, TX, Daughter, Sally Jo & Richard Garza of Grand Saline, Son, Murrel Wayne Whitaker of Grand Saline, TX, 16 Grandchildren,, 23 Great Grandchildren, , Sister-in-law, Clara Mae Lewis of Fruitvale.

Christeen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Murrel Lee Whitaker in 1966.

Pallbearers are Clint Whitaker, Clay Whitaker, Wade Smith, Dusty Smith, Richard Garza, and Christopher Whitaker.

Family will receive friends Friday 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Frank Ward's office and Hospice of East Texas for the wonderful care they gave Mrs. Whitaker.
